“He stores up sound wisdom for the upright.”
– Proverbs 2:7
This proverb for today is a reminder that our way of living is connected to our way of understanding. Who does the Lord store up wisdom for? The upright. As Christians, we rejoice that we’re not saved by our works. Our obedience does not secure our acceptance. But it’s important to remember that the Christian life is an everyday relationship with the living God and our lifestyle before God is connected to our learning from God.
As we walk closely with the Lord, we can expect him to open up new spiritual insights to us. Listen to Oswald Chambers -
“The golden rule for understanding in spiritual matters is not intellect but obedience. If things are dark to us spiritually it’s because there is something we will not do. Intellectual darkness comes because of ignorance spiritual darkness comes because of something I do not intend to obey.“
Darkness of understanding is often connected to some area in our lives that we refuse to obey the Lord in. This means that new obedience opens up new channels for God’s wisdom to flow into our lives.
Lord, help me to live in step with your Spirit today so that I might learn more from your Spirit of wisdom. Amen.
